Press Release
Transitional Arrangements Announced for Certification Issued Before 6 September 2026
Office of the Registrar
The Education Department has set out how certification issued before its establishment will be treated. Before 6 September 2026, member organisations of the Network trained and certified their own staff against Network standards, and certified their own systems, under arrangements that differed from one organisation to another.
Certificates issued under those arrangements are recognised by the Department for a transitional period ending on 30 June 2027. Holders of a recognised certificate have been entered on the Department's registers as transitional entries: 1,284 individuals on the register of certified persons and 37 organisations on the register of certified organisations.
An individual converts a transitional entry into full certification by passing the Department's refresher paper before 30 June 2027. Individuals whose transitional entry records the operator or assessor level will be certified at that level on passing; their organisation must confirm the level in the transitional record. An organisation converts its entry by undergoing a Department assessment before the same date.
Transitional entries that have not been converted by 30 June 2027 lapse on that date and the holder must complete the relevant programme and examination in full. The arrangements are described in detail on the Transitional arrangements page of this site, and enquiries about an individual record may be sent to the Department by email.
