Press Release
Transitional Approval Granted to Training Units of Member Organisations
Office of the Spokesperson
The Education Department has granted transitional approval to the training units of member organisations that delivered foundation or operator training before the Department was established. Transitional approval allows a unit to continue delivering those programmes to the Department's syllabus while the Department carries out the inspection required for full approval.
Transitional approval is subject to the same conditions as full approval. A unit must deliver the current syllabus without omission, register its candidates with the Department for examination, keep attendance and instructor records, and notify changes to instructors or premises. Every instructor must hold current certification at the level of the programme taught; a transitional entry on the register of certified persons satisfies this condition until 30 June 2027.
Units holding transitional approval will be inspected before 31 March 2027. A unit that meets the Department's requirements on inspection receives full approval for two years from the date of the inspection. A unit that does not is given a period in which to remedy the findings, after which transitional approval lapses if the findings remain.
Independent training providers and member organisations that did not previously deliver training may apply for approval in the usual way. The procedure, the conditions of approval and the matters examined at inspection are described on the Approved providers page of this site.
